Dear JMDSCo family,

Late week I went on the Dreammakers website to look up the cost for solos as we were getting ready to send out an email with Nationals payment information. I couldn’t remember the cost for solos so was just popping on to look.

I have always registered for Nationals in the Spring (March/April) and have never, ever had a problem. So I’m on my normal timeline for Nationals.

Much to my dismay I discovered the event at Va Beach was marked as “sold out”! This shocked me as we have JUST started the regional season so how can it be sold out??

Thinking it had to be an error I called them and left a message on Friday. I heard back last night. Indeed it IS sold out and has been sold out since SEPTEMBER.

I asked if there was anyway for them to work us in and unfortunately they can’t commit to that. Even if they could they wouldn’t know until much later in the season and I don’t want to delay on other making arrangements as we need to lock in spots elsewhere and people need to book accommodations.

I spent most of the evening and day researching other options. My two most important factors were # 1 choosing something the same week and 2 finding something drivable.

After looking at several options I settled on STARPOWER Nationals in Atlantic City.

Why?

It’s the same exact time frame. June 29th – July 3rd.

We can qualify for it at Imagine regionals.

It’s drivable.

It’s the most comparable to what we were planning as people can stay on the beach if they wish.

There’s lots of stuff to do during down times.

It’s affordable (more so than VA Beach to my surprise)!

And

I’m familiar with StarPower. It’s well run and organized.

I’m in disbelief that they are sold out. It’s kind of insane. Rather than wait on a possibility I would rather change NOW so everyone can cancel any VA Beach arrangements and make new Atlantic City arrangements.

In hindsight I think it will be a GOOD thing and everyone will enjoy the experience. StarPower should be a great event with lots of talent!

The event itself is held at Harrahs but there are lots of hotels in the area with various prices ranges.

I have already HELD our spots so we don’t get locked out of this one. Again, I do apologize as this took me off guard. I’m very on the ball with entries and a June/July event being sold out already is mind boggling.

Thank you for your understanding & flexibility. I’m hoping since I didn’t have to change the week and the location is actually more affordable everyone will view it as a positive change.
