NEW for 2019-2020!

We are pleased to introduce the addition of the NEW JMDS Select Company! This company will be by audition only and requirements will be very rigorous.

This will be the only day to audition for the company, absolutely no exceptions.

“What is the Select Company?”

The select company will be a MULTI-LEVEL group of dancers, (open to current juniors, seniorettes and seniors) selected by audition only who have demonstrated excelling in their particular teams already, excel at the audition, and also who have amazing work ethic, attendance and attitude in current classes.

The select company will continue to attend all of their current required technique classes and will also compete with the main company they are placed on next year. They will still have to fulfill the requirements for their main team whatever those requirements are for the upcoming season. Then IN ADDITION TO those requirements they will be required to attend extra technique classes as well as extra rehearsals to learn select company choreography.

The select company will compete in the ADVANCED DIVISION at competition. This will be a huge undertaking that we are up for the challenge!!! That is why we are looking for the most serious of our dancers!

As a staff we feel we have grown to a point that we need to add this division to our company. However, we understand that not everybody wants to devote more time, energy and expense to dance… But we have those who do. We have dancers who want to push harder and strive for more in their dance training and we feel it is time to offer that opportunity to those who are interested!

We will continue to offer quality dance education to all of our students, including ALL of the JMDSCO members. They will get just as much care and energy from our staff as they always do. This is just an additional opportunity for those who wish to and are ready for taking things to the next level … and those who are up for the challenge of competing in the advanced division!

We do not have much more information at this time. We have not even started working on next year’s class schedule yet. I can say that dancers on the select company will need to make a large commitment and will need to make dance a priority over other all other extracurricular activities. Participants would be looking at at least two more special technique classes a week, time and date to be determined… As well as an extra hour to two of rehearsals per week. We are sure Saturday will be involved for certain.

Expectations will be very high … members will be expected to practice at home, and demonstrate a high level of class etiquette, behavior and work ethic. Let’s also throw in there that members will be expected to remain humble. Those who cannot meet the requirements will be removed from select company.

We don’t want to scare anybody off but we truly want dancers who want to make the commitment, and who would like to strive to reach the next level in their dance training!!! and of course we need parents who are on board as well.

We will have more information out as far as time/expense requirements and such at a later time as auditions approach.

That being said we are super excited be at a point where we can offer something like this!!
